Losing weight is absolutely simple. I know that if you’ve stumbled upon this article, you’ve either decided to lose weight and don’t know how or you’ve tried to lose weight and failed. If you fall in the latter case, you probably disagree with my statement that weight loss is simple. But, let’s be honest for a second, the problem isn’t actually ‘losing weight’ but losing to your own desires.
With that being said, I want to share 5 ways to lose weight that doesn’t require you to starve yourself or to eat just salad all day long.
1. Intermittent Fasting
Here’s the thing, you don’t have to eat 3 meals a day. Trust me, you won’t have a super dive in energy and you certainly won’t burn muscle mass. Ideally, skipping early morning breakfasts and eating after 16 hours of ‘fasting’ will increase fat loss.
Ordinarily, it takes about 12 hours for insulin levels to lower and glucose to be at an all-time low. For energy, your liver will utilize stored fat in your body for energy. Rather than glucose, your body will rely on ketones.
For intense fat loss, I fasted for 20 hours and ate food in a 4-hour window before starting another 20 hours fast. During my fasted state, I drink ample water, green tea, unsweetened organic black coffee and sometimes apple cider vinegar with water!
Don’t starve yourself though! When it’s time to feast, feast on those vegetables, proteins and healthy fats to your heart’s content (Just don’t exceed your daily caloric limit ).
2. Substitute Rice For Loads Of Vegetables
A cup of rice consists of about 300 calories whereas a cup of broccoli or spinach contains less than 50 calories. How ridiculous is that! You could stuff your face with veggies and still be in a caloric deficit.
If you’ve tried everything to lose weight and nothing has worked until now, try reducing the amount of rice you eat per meal and track your progress. You’re bound to see results!
But remember, the key to this approach is eating loads of healthy vegetables loaded with fiber ensuring that you’re satiated and healthy.
3. Try Jumping Rope Or Boxing For 30 – 60 Minutes A Day
What if you don’t want to eat at a caloric deficit or cut out rice, do you have any other options? Of course you do! Exercise is your go-to approach.
Ideally, being in a 300 – 500 caloric deficit is ideal for long-term healthy weight loss. As it turns out, jumping rope or boxing for about an hour will help you burn anywhere between 500 – 1074 calories!
You don’t need to walk on the treadmill for hours just to burn 500 calories, try jumping rope outside or shadow boxing in your room! It works more effectively than any treadmill!
4. Skip The White Carbs
Breads, wheat flour pasta, white rice, bagels and cakes are an absolute no-no for weightloss. Despite what some people claim, you can’t stuff your face with these products and expect to lose weight. It doesn’t work that way.
Too much insulin in your blood is going to prohibit the release of fat burning hormones! More so than that, they are usually super dense in calories and devoid of much nutrients making them really unhealthy.
As far as possible, skip processed white carb products and opt for brown rice, seed loafs or sprouted grains. They’re healthy carbs that won’t destroy your weightloss goals.
5. Completely Eliminate Sugar
Last but certainly not least, cut out sugar. It has no nutritional benefits and is horrible for weight loss. As I mentioned above, sugar causes huge spikes of insulin which in turn prevents the release of fat burning hormones.
Rather than your body using stored fat as a source of energy, it simply reaches for all the glucose in your bloodstream instead. Stick with naturally sweet foods like fruits because they accompanied by fiber and doesn’t cause a ridiculously high spike of insulin (provided you eat in moderation).
A quick note: At the end of the day, weightloss is simple if you are consistent and stick to the rules. Don’t convince yourself that rules are meant to be broken, that’s not always the case. Eat healthily, exercise regularly, sleep well and be consistent. That’s how literally the key to a healthy lifestyle. Don’t complicate the process, it will drive you crazy, trust me I know.
I hope you enjoyed this article and it provides you with the advice you need to shed those unwanted pounds.
