Nothing is as frustrating and mentally taxing as dealing with scars, especially from acne and other skin related issues. We’ve all been there at some point or another.

Unfortunately for me, I’ve been there a number of times over the last 7 years and it has been nothing less than a roller coaster ride.

I just want you to know that there are natural, safe and healthy ways to deal with scars (even those indented ones) that won’t cost you a fortune.

I can’t promise that you’ll be scar free but there’s definitely a good chance that you can make a significant improvement in time.

Although I’m writing this post with the intention of sharing ways to deal with scars, I want you to know that the best way to deal and heal scars on your skin is through acceptance.

Nobody is perfect and that, in itself, is perfect.

You don’t have to judge yourself and your attractiveness based on someone else.

It’s great that you want to improve yourself externally but if you aren’t working on improving yourself internally and becoming the best version of yourself, how you look on the outside doesn’t really count for much.

Let’s get cracking.

I Need To Know – Are Natural Remedies Effective?

Yes.

They are most certainly effective IF you are consistent and persistent. I remember back in 2011 I broke out with cystic acne and it left behind some significant scarring.

I stuck with natural remedies for about 3 years and eventually, my skin healed to such a point that you wouldn’t tell I suffered from cystic acne.

Unfortunately, I got hit with another bout of cystic acne a few years ago and I had to start all over again.

That’s where diet and lifestyle factors come into play. I lacked the necessary information about gut health and how food, sleep, hydration and exercise affect the condition of your skin.

Since studying everything I could get my hands on relating to nutrition and overall health, I haven’t suffered from cystic acne since my last outbreak a few years ago and now all I’m working on is removing scars.

With that being said, let’s go over the top 10 natural ways to get rid of scars caused by conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis and so forth.

1. Lemon

Fade post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation marks and exfoliate your skin with lemon juice. It is absolutely awesome for improving the overall complexion of your skin whilst adding some of that necessary vitamin C to your skin.

2. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has been praised for it’s healing and anti-inflammatory properties for decades now, if not centuries. Just slice an aloe leaf in half and scoop up the inside gooey portions. Apply it to your skin and let it sit for anywhere between 25 minutes to even overnight.

3. Pure Honey

This sweet nectar is known for being anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and soothing for the skin. I tend to apply honey to my skin daily for 30 minutes before going to bed. Honey has been the one staple in my skincare routine and I attribute most of the healing I’ve witnessed to it.

4. Apple Cider Vinegar

It may not be the tastiest or sweetest smelling thing in the world but the wonderful ph balancing properties of Apple Cider Vinegar goes a long way in healing acne scars and simply restoring the natural balance of your skin. Dilute some ACV with water and spray it on your skin before hitting the shower.

5. MSM

Available in foods, supplements, powders and creams, this sulfur compound is quickly becoming well known for boosting collagen and elasticity. I picked up both a supplement and a cream which I apply directly to my skin every night.

6. Dry Brushing

A great way to encourage the healing of scars is by stimulating the area with increased blood flow and removing dead skin cells in the process. As it turns out, dry brushing is an excellent way to accomplish both of those things. Just pick up one of these dry brushes and before you head into the shower, brush your skin in a circular motion for about 5 minutes. Then, head into the shower to further stimulate blood flow to your skin.

7. Essential Oils

Packed with a bunch of fatty acids, healing and moisturizing properties, the use of essential oils for treating scars has skyrocketed over the last decade. Organic and cold-pressed oils are usually preferred when treating your skin. Try rosehip seed oil, jojoba oil, emu oil and peppermint oil.

8. Green Tea

If there was ever something that deserved to be called an elixir, it would be green tea. In my opinion, it is the secret to the fountain of youth and with good reason. Our skin is merely a reflection of what is going on inside. So, by treating your skin externally and internally, you can maximize the healing process and boost your results. Start by drinking green tea regularly or simply make a green tea face wash and use daily.

9. Sleep Before 10 pm

Believe it or not, during the hours between 10 pm and 2 am, our bodies heal and recover best. I’ve been sleeping after 1 am for the last 3 years and I noticed how much longer it takes for a mark or scar to heal compared to when I used to sleep early. Since it’s 2018, I’ve made it a requirement to hit the bed at 10 pm on most nights.

10. Rose Water

Rose water is one of my favorite items on this list because of how cooling and soothing it is for inflamed skin. It’s relatively cheap and has anti-inflammatory properties worth boasting about. Apply rose water for 30 minutes on your skin and wash off with cool water.

Precautionary Warning

Because we’re all unique snowflakes, it’s possible that your skin may react differently to any of the items mentioned above as compared to me or anyone else for that matter.

If you notice any adverse reactions, discontinue use. Apply just a small amount to a test area and make a note of how your skin reacts. If you have no issues, go ahead and try it on your entire face.

If you notice swelling, redness, stinging or any other form of negative reaction, don’t use it.

Wrapping It Up

Always keep in mind that your skin is a reflection of what’s occurring inside your body. Start cleaning out your system by eating healthily, avoiding processed junk and sugar, minimizing dairy, exercising regularly to aid the lymphatic system and hydrating with loads of fresh clean water.

Try the natural remedies mentioned above and stick with them for a consistent and extended period of time.

It may take a while but eventually, you’ll notice an improvement in your skin and that will be all the proof you ever need.

As a parting note, I want you to remember that above anything and everything else, who you are on the inside matters most.

Don’t worry about having perfect skin, perfect hair or whatever, focus on improving who you are as a person and find happiness.

Don’t wait until you have clear skin to be confident or happy, just embrace those things right now so that you can enjoy life inspite of flaws.
